Just prior to this year’s hunting season, I lost access to an area that I had hunted for well over 30 years. It’s been a tough year with the loss of my job and now this. It really knocked the wind out of my sails. I now had just a few weeks to find a new spot(s). I scouted some nearby State Land and some State Parks nearby. I also still had one very small private tract to hunt. It was not looking like a good season for me but I went anyways.
On Sunday afternoon, I watched three does out of range pass by my stand. I enjoyed watching the does but had little hope that a deer would pass close enough for a shot from my new stand. Well I was wrong. I killed a nice doe at 12 yards with my Northwind 52lb Longbow/Selfnock Cedar Arrow. She dropped within sight (25yards). Lesson learned was to not give up despite what you are dealt. There are still opportunities for regular guys without big dollars to be successful.
Good Luck to all,
Brian
