Messed up tonight!
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:22:00 PM »
Been hunting hard last 2 weeks, ever spare minute, hadnt seen any deer since going into the bright side of the moon, typical for around here, they usually dont move till after dark when the moon is getting brighter. Got home from work today, back was hurting, didnt feel like sitting rock still in the blind for a hour so thought just before dark, would take my bow and quiver with a couple of Ace hex heads along with the broadheads, had been seeing several rabbits walking out at dark, and since season opened today, thought I might pot one. I walked up and around, didnt see anything till I got to the top of the hill and looked over across at my blind about 150 yards off, the one I have been killing turkeys out of in my previous posts. Well there grazing away was Mr. Tall tines hisself, big 10 point with long g2's and 3s, not to mention brow tines and heavvy mass! Huge body, rack would easily score 140 and another huge 8 pt, easily 120 class, both within 10 yards of my blind! This is the same blind my wife killed her 8pt out of 2 weeks ago, I have taken 4 turkeys out of it. This thing is magic. I wasnt too tore up, thats why the call it huntin, not killin! I have 2 weeks till gun season, you can bet I will be spendin every spare minute try to get to know those two boys. I just hope I haven used up all my MOJO on those 4 turkeys!

I did as well tonight was the first time I took my wife out I put her in my stand and i went 30 yards away and sat behind a big brush pile. (She was just sitting and watching not hunting) So anyway ten minutes into our sit we saw 3 dow to far away to shoot and The next thing to walk in perfectly broadside to her and only ten yards away was a perfect ten point. oh well it was awseome to see the excitement on her face!!
Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.
