Bevel Loc ?? thouhts and experience please

I have friend, who has asked my toughts on the Bevel Loc T/D system that has been used in the past by some "well named" bowyers..I don't know what to tell him. I have only seen and handled 1 bow with that system. It happened to be one of the "prettiest Griffins" I have had the pleasure of handling. However, I never shot the bow and the "Gentleman" who owned it had not had it long enough to give a good evaluation of that system.

So far, no problems with a 5 year old bow with that system. Some of the early Adcock bows were made with the system and never heard of a problem. I will follow the thread to see what others think.

They are a unreliable system. My experience includes Adcocks and Morrisons. They will loosen up and allow the bow to fall apart and or jam and be hard to take apart. No one uses them anymore that I know of. Bob sold off his bev lock bows as having a disfunctional system. After O.L. tweaked one of mine twice I glued it together and still use it.

I only have one bow with it - a Griffin, and have had no problems with it during probably five years since it was built. It can be a little temperamental on occasion, but once locked in it is solid.
I'm guessing it varies bow by bow. I've heard of some that were real problems, and others that continue to work fine.

I have a very close friend who purchased an ACS CX from O.L. in 2004. It has the bevel lock system. It has loosened up over time and I will bet there are less than 100 arrows through that bow. Noisy and unstable IMO. In fact, at some point the connection wiggled loose and caused the lower portion of the riser to splinter a bit. Of course O.L. took care of this but it was disheartening just the same.

I had a bow with the bevel-loc and it froze up...no amount of penetrating oil, gentle heat, and eventually persuasion with a rubber mallet would undo the doing. Bob Morrison had more than a few that did the same thing that became very expensive one-piece bows.
After having owned 2 bow-bolt bows and shooting many others, it is vastly superior in my humble opinion.
