Tomahawk bow question?
« on: April 07, 2007, 08:22:00 PM »
I was wondering if any one has shot one of the Tomahawk take down longbows.  I shot a different take down longbow this weekend and noticed that when i pulled the string back i felt some torque where the take down part was.  I was just wondering if the tomahawk take down bows do the same thing.

I've shot one before and didn't notice any type of torque. It was a diamond series thunderstorm that was 58# @ 29". It seemed like a sound design, but most are. I've heard of some problems with different T/D systems, but I think most are isolated incidents.

when I owned a Tomahawk, I never experienced torque, unless I had bad form  :)

I'm thinking it was most likely the grip on that bow rather than the fact it was a take down.  Remember, longbow grips are usually way less pronounced than recurves.  When I was first introduced to a longbow I was told to really lay the whole palm of my hand into the grip.  If you try and grip a LB like you do a pistol grip RC then it could be easy to get torque.  Anyway, that's my take on it.  Also, it could just be that your hand just didn't like that grip.  Everyone's built a little different.

Did you try shooting any of those arrows we spined out of your bow?
