ground blind or treestand

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on if I should try to hunt out of a ground blind or treestand if most of the timber I hunt is a large gully. Wondering if wind will be a big issue and how to beat it. The deer stay deep In the timber longer because their food source is so close to the outer edge? Any ideas will help thanks!!

I experimented with a pop up blind this year.  I did'nt like it.  The positive is the deer can not see you in there through the shoot thru mesh.  I tested this theory and had many deer almost in the blind with me.  The downfall, the big downfall is being on the ground the older smarted deer will wind you.  I was busted numerous times by mature deer this year because they circled downwind or approached from down wind when most other deer did not and they nailed me everytime.  Got a nice pop up for sale though if your interested.  Man they are comfy to hunt out of, I just made an all day sit in it and it was nice but I would stay in the tree if possible.

just my opinion but I like the treestands better.  We have shot some deer out of pop up blinds but you really nead to brush them in.  They may be dumb and come around at first but in no time they will run as soon as they see a ground blind.  On the other hand I took my cousin and his boy on the MO. youth hunt and a big 140ish buck jumped a fence 10 yards away and stood broadside while he shot it.  The blind was not brushed in. Now I have one less dream buck on that farm but it was worth it, I think.

I totally ground hunt and have for the last 5 years.I made a ghillie 25 years ago and it has worked great ever sence I made it.But you still have to hunt the wind.

It depends on where you hunt , our type of terrain is low the same as texas and a ground blind is a most, our season starts on nov 27 and we have placed the pop up blinds a month ago so the deer will get used to seeing them , another strategy is to place a blind on a well tracked deer road and put it so the sun will be on your back and the wind in your face, here in low terrain the sun is very important, and by doing so you can get lucky with a big one
