Spine Question
« on: November 16, 2009, 03:15:00 PM »
I've got some Easton Epics cut to 28.5" 400's.  Will this spine be close on a longbow that's centercut, 48 lbs, with my drawlength a shade over 28"?  Thinking about a 175 or 200 grain broadhead.

I had to add almost 350 up front to get 29" 400's to spine of out of a 60lb hill.  My guess is that you might be a little stiff still.

They will be stiff for a 48# bow, they may work if you add alot of weight up front.

Not sure if this helps you or not, not apples to apples ... 48 pound bow @30, longbow center cut, I draw 30 1/2 inches or so.  I shoot 32 inch 500 spine beeman hunters (ICS) with 50 grain insert, 42 grain adapter and 145 grain head.  Total, about 503 grains of arrow on a LONG shaft.  Shoots excellent.  I think you will be too stiff in my opinion.  I have never shot Epics however.

Good luck

Bob.

If you want a shorter arrow.  I would drop to 500's and if you want more weight add tubes.

Thanks guys.  Time to check out some 500's.  It's almost Christmas, right?
