Need advice-How to sell arrows
« on: November 17, 2009, 07:47:00 PM »
Rod Jenkins REALLY helped my shooting,but....now my wood arrows are way too short. I don't have a spine tester and can't remember the spine on the different batches, most are from 50-65#. I also have woody weights and broadheads on a bunch. Should I strip the heads off and sell seperately, leave them on, how should I advertise the spine? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks  owlbait  Mike Gerard

sell as is.

If you for sure what some of are, make a cheapo spiner. 2 nails and a 3/4" box wrench. Have the nails hold the shafts straight and put the wrench on the end not being held by the nails. Mark the bend of the arrow... That will be your guide for said spine.

So if I know a shaft is 55-57# then more bend would be less spine and less bend would be more spine? I could get them in close to 5# groups that way. THANKS!

I could send you my Ace Spinemaster.  If the woody weights and broadheads are something you would like to keep, just replace them with field points or sell the arrows without points.

Thanks for the offer Fletcher. I'm not sure I have any use for the woody weights and I have the heads on so good I hate to take them apart. I think I will see if someone local has a spine tester or make up one like mysticguido suggested. It will be a great December project!

The spine weight of wood arrows is measured with a 28" arrow resting of supports spaced 26" apart with a 2# weight hung from the middle. The deflection of the arrow shaft relates to the spine weight(ie. .520" deflection=50# spine weight). For each inch over 28" subtract 5# and the opposite for arrows under 28".
