traditional shops in syracuse, ny area
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:08:00 AM »
I will be spending Thanksgiving in the Syracuse, NY area and wondered if there are any archery shops in the area that stock traditional equipment; wooden shafts, feathers, etc? Also are there any public courses that can be shot?

There is a a shop southeast of Syracuse.  I have been looking for a closer bow shop myself, but haven't found one.

As said above, Tollgate is a good one, George is a nice guy and great to talk to, been in the field for years.

A 3rd vote for Tollgate!!!!!

Probly an hour east of Syracuse,on US Rt.20. Certainly worth the trip!!! George also has an indoor range in the shop. Either bring your bow or you can "try-out" some of the many nice bows that he has in stock. But be careful..... Christmas may come "early"!!!!!

I have not been there in some time but 25 min south of Syr on I81 in Tully is Jeff Boardells shop. He was starting to stock some traditional stuff, but was mostly compound in the beginning.
It can't hurt to give him a call.
Here is his website

Almost forgot about Pratts Falls. Has an outdoor range and field course.

Plus at Onondaga Lake in longbranch park there is an outdoor range.
Both free public ranges

Yup, Tollgate is more like an 1hr.&1/2 from Syracuse. I'd say it's worth the trip if your looking for somthing to do for a few hrs. Bring your bow too. Log onto George's web site, look around and then give him a call to be sure that he is going to be open.
I reckon so
