Wish me luck!
« on: November 24, 2009, 10:31:00 AM »
Getting packed up to leave for Washington after Thanksgiving. I am going elk hunting in the late season with antlerless elk/spike bull tag in my pocket.

Since I'm the only trad shooter in the group pictures may be few and far between...but I'll take some "clean" shots and have a story to tell when I return.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Wow that sounds great.  I just don't think about an elk hunting trip this time of year.  Good luck.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Regarding "clean" pictures, I know what you mean.  I have never hunted with another tradganger so all my hunting trips are "dirty" I guess. I never thought about it that way though.  I kinda wish they would relax that "rule" some.  Heck, don't we need to be with the infidels to spread the religion?

What part of Washington?  I am headed out to hunt this weekend for 5 days.  Lots of elk and good hunting all over the state.  It sounds to me like you may be hunting the east side if you need tags for antlerless or spike only.

Yeah, we're going on the East side. My friend owns a bit of land West of Yakima.

Thanks guys. Got the mighty F-150 mostly packed up, the broadheads sharpened, and the final checklist in action.
This will be a good time. We've been looking forward to it all year. I'm thinking it may be more challenging than a bull hunt, getting close to the herd to get a cow, calf, or a spike. And, it will be cold and wet.
So, tomorrow will be Thanksgiving dinner, Friday, I'll take the dog to my friend's house finish loading and packing the personal gear. Saturday we're off. Going to stop in Medford Oregon for a break and any last minute shopping at Sportsman's Warehouse. Then to Portland to visit a friend for a couple of nights, then to Yakima to pick up the tags and meet up with the guys. We'll be in camp Monday afternoon and hunt until the season closes on the 8th.

Have at 'em Toby! I know how long you've looked forward to it!

Had a wee bit of trouble with the lady, home alone for the holiday and might have to get some hunting in myself. Lord knows the big man and I need to talk...

Happy Thanksgiving, be safe and I look forward to helping you eat that steak!

LOL!
