Arrow Size?
«

I just got my first recurve and need help with arrow selection. My draw length is 28" so I'll be shooting an arrow around 29".My bow is 45# at 28". Is a 2117 aluminum shaft about right or would a 2216 be better?

I shoot a full length 2117 with a 145 grain head from a Bear Kokiak that I draw to 29.5". By the way, for me this arrow also works in my Elburg longbow,

and my Trad Tech ILF, 50@28.

I would prefer a 2016 . A 2018 is a little heavy spine and 2117 or 2216 would be for about 60#

2117 would be the stiffest I'd try with really heavy heads ,but I usually shoot a 2016 out of any setup similar to yours.

I think a 1918 would be better. Hap

That is my set up and I use 1918 or 2016 with a 175 grain head. Arrows bare shaft true.

Ok, thanks for the help. I was going by the Easton chart and they recommended 2117 or 2216 which seemed to stiff and heavy to me, but what do I know, I'm new to this.

unless your bow is cut past center you might be better served using 1916s with 125-175 grains up front, experiment with tip weight for best performance.
