he day after Thanksgiving my good friend "Preacher" and I decided to meet for a rabbit hunt. Some of the Teenagers wanted to sleep in. We were to meet sometime just after 10:00 AM, but got our locations crossed.
I was coming from Wyoming, where I had been visiting family. Preacher was leaving our valley with his two sons and the son of our good friend "Inclose". By 11:40 AM we finally met up.
Our first are yielded zero rabbits, by 3:00 PM the boys were all hungry. We headed back to the vehicles for some turkey sandwiches, smoked goose, and apples. After shooting a bit we decided to try a spot on the way home.
We found a mini "bunny mecca". The sage brush was thick as the hair on a dogs back and 8' tall. Shooting was fast and furious but mostly fruitless. I did connect on both of my shots (same rabbit - go figure). The first shot resulted in a blood trail and a finishing shot. We all had a great time.
This will be a Day after Thanksgiving tradition for us in the future.
