BLM, the foundation of the height is from the design, ie, recurve, highly reflexed or deflex.
But the others, shooting style and even the type of string material used.
You didn't state whether it was a recurve or longbow? At the lower brace you state, if recurve, there would be more string contact, meaning more noise.
I also feel that a big problem with noisy bows, is something overlooked, and that is a string with to much twist! It kills the integrity of the material.
Anyway, the best is to find the "sweet spot" for your shooting style and set-up!
