Flem twist untwisting?
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:35:00 AM »
I have a flem twist string(b50) that is starting to untwist. Can I just serve the string on the ends of the twist to keep it in place or will this mess it up somehow?....Thanks, Roy

Should not be untwisting unless the wraps are wrong.  Is it new?

From the pics, it looks like it is just the ends and that is normal, just cut the ends off and wax real good.

Those are just the tag ends, I make my own and unless you stagger the lengths or trim the endw with a razor, this will happen. Nothing to worry about. If you want them to look better, wax them good, smooth it down.

I leave the tag ends hanging out on some strings more than that on purpose... helps quiet string slap on recurves w/o adding anything else to the string.

It looks like then didn't stagger the cuts on the string end before twisting. If you wax them up real good I use a blow dryer on low heat to melt the wax in deep and then a little more on top that may help.If you are not sure you trust it get a new string.
