Need lots more info if we are to get you close ?

1) What tip weight do you shoot
2) What is your draw length
3) Is the recurve cut to center or 3/16" past
4) fast flight string I assume too ?

All of these will factor into what spine you need, but unless you are shooting over 200 grains up front and have a 29-30" draw I would bet the 150's will work good for you.

buckeye 150s should work fine, work great out of my 50lbs at 28 inches black widow. Got a complete pass though on a nice adult doe this season. TD.

Thanks fellas i figured the 150's should do the job. Im shooting 125 gr. tips thats what i have always shot, i draw about 27 inches, not too sure about the center cut, but i do have a fast flight string.

Shoot a similar setup and the 150's are my favorite shaft. Just don't cut too short off the get go and experiment with the length but can't imagine you can't get them to shoot perfectly.

Start with them long. Are you going to use the factory insert or a brass one. I would recommend a 100 grain brass insert and that way with your 125 grain tip your arrows wont be a mile long and you will end up with a nice weight.Just my opinion. Also, my widows was finicky and when you start getting close only cut 1/4" off the shaft at a time. Are you going to bare shaft tune or tune fletched and bare shafts together?

Would bet you would need to leave them plenty long since you are only drawing 27" which means about 47lbs draw weight if your bow is like most and rated the weight marked @ 28" draw. I would also bet you could shoot 175 to 250 up front to get them to bareshaft correctly. Carbons get stiff quick when you cut them down like LC said above. You want them to fly to the target straight or ever so slightly weak which for a righty would be nock tailing left or impacting slightly right of your fletched shafts. Lay the bow on a bench with an arrow nocked and measure up from the bench to the string, then measure up from the bench to the bottom of the tip of the arrow and add half the arrow diameter. Most recurves are cut at least to center and most past so that the arrow is lined up for center shot. If the dimension is the same then your recurve is cut past center to allow for half the arrow diameter. This allows a wider range of spines to be shot off a recurve that is cut this way. Center shot bows like and can tolerate stiffer spine, non center shot requires weaker spine to bend around the non center shot riser.

The Heritage 90's will work a heck of  alot better and you will not need to leave them long because they are just 29.5" long. They spine out at .523 , which is a little stiffer than aluminum 1916's which we know will shoot out of that bow . I shoot the 90's up to 54# with perfect flight .The 150's are way too stiff IMO .

Actually, the heritage 90's are now and have been all this year, 30.5". If you will shoot a little more weight up front, you could definately shoot the 150's and they are standard size. You can shoot your 125g heads and just put some brass inserts in. 90's are a smaller diameter and won't take brass inserts without special efforts.
We sell CX heritage for 68.99 per dozen. Give us a call @ 229-344-1616. Our web site is down and we may have to build another. You can always order by phone.

Hey guys, I cut an arrow down to about 29 inches this is about where i usually cut my wood arrows down to. I shot it a few times using the standard insert it seemed like it flew pretty well. would it be ok to cut the rest like this?

I just put your numbers through Stu Millers Dynamic Spine Calculator using 0 center cut. I am not sure what a martin is cut at. The center cut of a bow has a great impact on dynamic spine.

with a BOP of 29.5, point of 125g, insert 12g, nock 11g, and 5" feathers the  dynamic spine of the 150 is 63.4,  If you stay with 12g insert and increase BOP to 30.5 the Dynamic spine will be 56.8

Recurve 50@28 and your draw at 27 center cut 0 and using FF string required Dynamic spine is 56.3
with +1/8 center cut 49.3
with -1/8 center cut 66.3

the CE 90's can be tuned to your bow too.

I have tuned several bows to various CE Heritage arrows using the calculator with great satisfaction.

If you have a spread sheet program on your computer and you want to try the calculator it may be found at.
  http://www.heilakka.com/stumiller/

downloads for program and directions are at bottom of the web page.

I suggest reading the directions and doing a couple of run throughs.

Good luck

I shoot 150s full length out of all my bows and they are 50@30 and i get great arrow flight with 125 grain broadheads.

Plus these arrows are very well made and can take a beating like no other arrow i have ever shot.
