Cold weather and lighter draw weights

It wasnt and it was a long time comming, i see a lot of hunts in my future its just going to take me a couple of years to get my feet back under me.

I work hard and i hunt hard so i will come back stronger than ever once all this is behind me. I am a real spiritual person and as long as i have the big man on my side all things are possible.

Jovan  50 @ 30" is a light Bow and would work well in cold weather Just a little light for Big Alberta Moose and Deer! But for small game it would be perfect!

In response to the original question...Yes, I drop bow poundage when the weather gets really cold.  In ND, that can happen pretty early in the year. When I am dressed in multiple layers of clothing and have been sitting 2-4 hours waiting for a shot, it has been much easier for me to draw a bow that is 5# lighter than the bows I typically hunt with.  On deer sized game with well-tuned arrows, they work just as well as the heavier bows.  Plus, I have the added confidence of knowing that I can draw them effortlessly when my body is stiff and chilled.

I dropped to 46#s this year and glad I did. I am 62 and I shoot it a lot better, I shot a 5 point buck this year  and went in the last rib on one side and out the lower shoulder on the other and stuck in the ground. Recovery 40 yards.

Gordon i respectfully disagree with you that 50@30 is to light to take a Canadian whitetail. A good friend of mine killed a elk this fall with the same set-up as the one i hunt with. He killed a 800lb bull elk with a complete pass through 20yds out and saw the bull fall 60yds from where he was shot.
