OK enough already!!
« on: December 09, 2009, 07:06:00 AM »
I woke up this morning to 21 degrees and a wind chill near zero.  We have had refrigerator temps for over a week and now we are going for walk in freezer.

THIS IS TEXAS FOR GOSH SAKES!  Supposed to be 70 and sunny.  I didn't move here for grey and cold and wet.  I had that in Washington.

LOL

Boy can't wait for Rusty too get up he's going to see the dog water hard and go back too bed.

It's a balmy 32 here, with winds at 32 gusting to 42.  I guess the cold front is here.  :goldtooth:

54 here at the moment in Columbus, OH.  My son is heading out w/ his recurve into 20-30 mph winds (our gun season ended Sunday).  My bet is that he will see very little.

Sorry we're catching your global warming and leaving you in the cold.  :-D

I haven't looked at the temp gauge but I can tell you it's cold here and I woke up to a wind that sounds like a train outside(not exaggerating). I just heard on the weather that some of the gusts are 50 plus MPH.
It's all good! I doubted I'd get to hunt today anyway. My season is basically over for this year. I go in tomorrow and the surgeon will fix me up. I don't get to pick up a bow again until Jan 21st. WHAAAAAAAA!! Call me a Whaaambulance! I am excited to get it done but man I hate the thought of not shooting my bows. I am getting a new-to-me Big 5 and it'll think I'm a lazy no good if it gets here and has to sit around for a month.
God bless,Mudd

Just talked with Connie.  She's in WI teaching a class and got 12 inches of snow over night.  Said that's not a problem but the big stuff is scheduled this weekend with a blizzard.

She was smart and rented a 4x4 rig and knows what shes doing from all the years hunting in snow in Washington.

Just went out to start the woodstove in the shop.  Dang near froze solid on the way back.

Today: Snow before 4pm, then freezing rain and sleet. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 31. East wind between 11 and 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Come and spend a winter with me in Michigan Mike.
We can have sub-zero to 70 degrees. windy to calm. snow, rain sleet and hail. It can be fun but nerve racking. It is not that bad tho, as it only lasts for 6-7 months.
OH! if you are coming to the K-ZOO show in January, you have a GOOD chance to see most of this.
I do not think I would do well with your frypan HOT in the summer, but I think I might like your winter(winter,HA!)

I hear ya Chuck!

As you know I grew up in Washington state.  Lots of rain and cold and grey days.  Hunted on hte east side of the state for late seasons with real winter temps.

But this is Texas.  We don't get that cold.  80 is our mean temp to judge off of and today we are -60 degrees below that.  LOL

After work today(Snow combat on the highway), I get to hit the roof, clear off the boat.  I measured 28" here at the house.  So much fun for living in sunny Arizona.  I put in some pictures tonight.

I think it was 8 years ago on march 1st I went with a bunch of guys from Iowa here to SW Texas for a Javy hunt, it was the coldest 3 days TX has had in many years, it took us of gaurd for sure, we didnt bring snow clothes! I wouldnt have believed it but TX can get cold!

Blizzard here today, everything is shut down. -20 windchill, high winds and lots of new snow. I too just fired up the shop heater to get a couple finished myself!

I feel your pain.  :D  Planed on hunting the other day but when I got up it was 28 degrees!  :scared:  Thank goodness for those CSI reruns on tv because I don't hunt in brutal weather like that.  :)

The temp is supposed to keep dropping here today. Its around 30 now and going to be 15 by 5:00. The wind gust are going to be up to 50mph, steady at 35. I have to be at work at 8:30. We work outside so its gonna be a long, misearable day. We are starting a new basement in a new subdivision. No trees to block any of the wind. I have every piece of warm clothes I own in a pile by the door.......Roy

Look at the Noaa weather site, see all that orange covering Iowa? I looked out my window and just for a second I could see my neighbors house and then it was gone.  I couldn't see anything orange anywhere except for the faint glow of the street light.
