Bows built for a buddy
« on: January 06, 2007, 07:18:00 PM »
These are two bows that I made for a buddy of mine, they aren't great but they do shoot. Now that I have seen them in pictures I can see a couple of places that the tiller could be improved but he likes the way they shoot so I won't mess with them. I'll chalk it up to experience and try not to repeat the mistakes.

The first one is an ash board bow that came in around 50#@28. I don't recall the length on either of them. Self nocks, no shelf and a simple leather handle.

The second is osage that hits 55#@28. Horn tip overlays, horn shelft and leather handle wrapped in artificial sinew. The area that looks like a hinge in the braced picture is a bit mis-leading. The stave had section that had a pretty good natural reflex until just past midlimb then went straight the rest of the way out. It seems mostly ok at draw but like I said, having seen it in the pics, seems to working mostly on the outer third of both limbs on both bows.

Hey Buddy!  LOL
Those are pretty nice bows, your buddy is a lucky friend.
