3 ply or 2 ply string
« on: December 16, 2009, 05:56:00 PM »
ok im kinda comfotable tying a 2 strnd flemish string . and am wondering what i could gain out of a 3 strand other than colors .

is it better at 3 than 2 or not .
and do you wrap them the same just using 3 strands rather than 2  top string twist and wrap over .?

guess this is the right area to post this also.

thanks for any info,
Scott

I use three because the individual bundles are smaller and seem to twist tighter for me.  Wether is it two or three the process is all the same more just a matter of preference.  Two bundles are a little quicker to make too. dino

2 ply has always been sufficient for me. Oops should have read the title closer. Never mind.    :jumper:

as long as you are using sufficient back twist, a two bundle is every bit as round and strong as three bundle.  the only advantage to three bundle is aesthetics.  also, it is harder to maintain proper bundle tension with the three bundles.
