Predator on its way!

My brand spankin' used Predator should be shipped this week and I was hoping for some info. on these bows. Just wonderin' about brace height, any issues with getting them quiet, and whether or not they are as fast as people claim? Also, what strings have people used on them?

Mine is a 60" 54#@28" with bubinga and black phenolic.....and black limbs. Any info would be nice...I'm kinda excited. Thanks....Ryan

Very good speed
i put a 10 strand D97 with padded loops on mine that made a difference in performance and noise.

Grips vary's and can take a bit to get used to, but the arrow is very close to the top of your hand and makes it point great.

all round very solid recurve!

Absolutely love it.

My brace height is 7 1/2".

I have not seriously entertained another bow since I got it maybe 12(?) years ago.

Thanks Guys! I'll start with 7 1/2 for a brace height and go from there. Looking forward to shooting it and seeing what the grip is like. Hope it fits!

Mine is 64# @ 28" also, and it likes 7.75".  It flat out smokes an arrow, and it's 11 years old.

I agree with Andy,the shelf is cut low,and combined with the grip the bow pointed and shot VERY well for me.Probably should have bought the one I was loaned...   :rolleyes:        

Shot real fast,and that one was 50@28".

Just as with Landshark and Nel, my Predator is an old friend. 68#@28"

I have used Dacron, the original Fast Flight, and the D-97 for string materials. My bow is sensitive to brace height, in that if it`s not exactly where it needs to be I can tell. I do not know the exact measurement, but I have a small mark on the riser that I use for a reference. If your bow is like mine, it will tell YOU when the brace height is correct.

Keep your arrow weight around ten grains per pound, get the brace height in the sweet spot and I`m sure any of the common string silencers will get your bow plenty quiet.

I draw beyond 28 inches, and found I always need arrows spined much higher than normal...especially with wood.

If your new bow fits you, you`ll see why some of us are using the same bow for more than a decade!

I have two.  The ONLY comment that I have that is not "glowing" is, as stated above, the grips, that is, the cross sectional thickness of the narrowest part of the grip, is not constant from one bow to the next. Some times by quite a bit So. . .

One of the bows is my current go to, the other is a spare set of limbs.  I do not like the thicker grip of the second bow.  Note. .  I bought the second bow exactly for that reason and so am not dismayed. .  I knew about the issue prior to purchase.  

If I had received them in reverse order, I'm not certain I would have stayed with Predator.  Give it a chance, they are wonderful, fast, good feeling, good handling bows, as long as that darned grip meets your needs.

mine is 60" and 54@28.  it like a 7 3/4" bh.  i shot a predator once and had the feather cut my hand as it came off the shelf.  i still wanted one very bad and decided to get one despite my concerns with the shelf/grip of the one i shot earlier.  the one i have is an 05 model and does not have that problem at all.  it is awesome and feels great to me.  i have been looking to get a set of heavier set of limbs for it if i can ever find "the right" ones.
tradtusker, where did you get the thin strng from?  i have been thinking of trying one.
