I am proud to announce that one of my former graphic design students, Allen Hemberger, was one of the CG supervisers on the film Avatar.  Allen works for Weta in New Zealand and has created special effects for a number of other films , including King Kong, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and two of the Matrix films.  Not bad for a boy from Kentucky!

Allen also worked on XMen, Fantastic 4, and Ladykillers. He did a lot of the Skull Island water effects in King Kong. His team won an Academy Award for that film.  I'm going to find out which scenes he worked on in Avatar.
