New Armguard
« on: December 19, 2009, 07:39:00 PM »
Seeing the recent leather projects on here and the two feet of snow finally gave me the motivation to make my armguard.  It's 8/9 oz leather and hand stitced.  Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture.

Great job!  I really like the USMC touch.  How did you do the stitching.  It looks machine finished.

Very slowly!  I'm not sure what the stitch is called but it was taught to me by a master leathersmith(my dad's huntin buddy). He does amazing things with leather and he showed me what I know.

Missagain I would love to make these to sell but I would have to ask way too much for them.  This took about 3 1/2 hours to make.  Most leathercrafters use machines which helps cut that time to probably 1/3 of that so they can sell cheaper.  Unfortunately I don't have the time to do this full time.
