I'm not sure there is a best but usually 125 grs and up.No top end limit.Weight may be determined by what flies best with the arrow of your choice.

I just finished an order of carbon arrows I intend to use for hunting next year and it went as follows:

Beman ICS 400 (left uncut at 30 inches)
100 grain brass insert
200 grain tip

I had decided on buying some carbon arrows for Moose hunting next year, and after toying with several shafts my local dealer gave me a 10% discount on a dozen Beman ICS arrows. I had originally planned on Easton FMJs but figured I would save a couple bucks. Anywho we glued in the inserts and proceded to shoot the bare shafts with various point wieghts. By far the best was the 200 grain tips which flew like darts.

Somewhere between 85 and 400 grains should do the trick, whichever fly best out of your system and that you can sharpen the easiest.

Try a few and see what your bow and arrows eat best - Mine likes anything from 200 to 260 best on the arrows I use. Be different for everyone,

I've had complete pass throughs on some 200+lb hogs and a complete PT on a nice buck pinning both shoulders using a 55lb BW curve and 135gr  Magnus I and 100gr steel inserts. Total arrow weight 530gr.

It is not just a broadhead weight you have to choose but a correct balance between shaft spine and point and how much FOC you want to acheive.Plus I usually have different set ups if I hunt deer sized animals or Hogs and Elks.

Do you mean #55, which means number 55, or 55#, which means 55 pounds?   That drives me crazy.

Bow poundage ( or even bow number) has nothing to do with broadhead weight.   You need to see what setup suits your style and your form best.
There are no magic #'s.   Or is that s'#?     :confused:

What kind of arrows are you going to mount them on?  I only know woods, but generally get my best arrow flight from heads 160 gr and up.  I believe it has to do with the extra FOC.  I also tune my arrows to shoot with the heavier heads.

you can get any broadhead weight to work with 55lbs draw weight with the right shaft you cannot take shortcuts and ask such a general question all you can do is go and bareshaft tune your set up then you will know go to A&H archery site and read how to tune your bow !!! no one  but you  can tune your bow as you are the one shooting your set up!!

What weight field point are you shooting on the Axis 400s? If they're shooting find for you with the field points, then your broadheads should match in weight. I've had super good performance with the 125 grains Wensel Woodsman on the Axis 400s and 500s. If you need more weight up front, you can purchase different steel adaptors.

My wife shoots 45# @ 26" and I shoot 60# (dropping down to 55#) @ 28". I make all our arrows and put 200 grains of point weight on her arrows and mine have 220-255...depending on the bh I am shooting best. This give her a finished arrow of 500 grains and mine come in at 575 - 600. The new arrows i will be shooting out of the 55# limbs will have a finished weight of 540-550 with the same bh weights.
