Three bows new to me
« on: December 24, 2009, 05:35:00 PM »
Just picked up:
Custom Kodiak T/D
riser B-6229
limbs 2B5521
50#-60"

Super Kodiak
KZ18988
45#-60"

Kokiak magnum
KUZ5909
50#-52"

I have some questions that I thought you folks might be able too help with. If I buy spare limbs do they need to have "B" on them? And what brace hight do they like,no experience with any of them. I know its alot but any help would be great.
                                 THANKS

Nice haul! How about some pics? I'm sure some of the Bear guys will chime in here soon with the details. I'm kinda new to Bears, so we'll wait for them.

Your custom Kodiak TD is an excellent bow, very quiet, stable and forgiving, accurate as well.the riser is of the early 80's to mid 80's,something like 83-84.The limbs are dedicated for that kind of riser in the shortest configuration. On a B riser like yours with #1 limbs(Yours)you have a 60" bow. With #2 limbs and B riser you have a 62" bow and with the #3 limbs you have a 64" bow.In that time Bear was making just #1 limbs and you can reconise the period from the green tips and serial #.In the 70s Bear made 3 different risers A-B-C.and 3 different lenght of limbs1-2-3 so you could go from a 56" to a 68" bow.

So when you buy some spare limbs you can take whatever you want for having your bow from 60 to 64".Mine are good with a very low Brace Height but most guys prefere them from 8 to 8 1/2".It is difficult to say something about the other 2 bow just from mere serial num. pics will help, for sure they are later than 1969,but with pics and type of medallion I could tell something more. The Kodiak Mag serial # is not correct anyway it can have the Z after the KU it must be a number.
