What Should I Do?
« on: December 27, 2009, 09:46:00 AM »
Hi, I have shot with traditional equipment before and I want to get back into it. I am currently looking at three bows: the Hoyt gamemaster and gamemaster II, the pse coyote, and the Martin Jaguar. I want a metal risered bow for it's versatility. My question is, which bow would be the best bow for someone that is going back to traditional gear after a couple years off? I do not want to spend a ton of money on this and for the money, which bow is the best? Thanks.

The Gamemasters are good bows and hold resale/trade value. The limbs can also be upgraded through a simple bushing swap to better grade ILF limbs. Of the ones you listed, they would be my choice.

I am thinking of adding the Reflex Nomad into the list as well because I cannot find  a gamemaster anywhere and because Cabelas carries reflex bows.  Plus the Hoyt is very expensive.

Have to ask......how is a metal riser more versatile?

Best thing to do is get out and shoot as many bows as you can WITHOUT placing preconceived limits on the bows. I hunt some of the most extreme environments in the world and personally I don't own and have no plans on ever owning a metal riser!
Just this Alaskan's opinion

By versatile, I mean if I want to put on a sight or stabilizer or an arrow rest, I am also looking at the pse kudu because it has the brass inserts for a bowfishing reel or rest if I ever feel like going bowfishing.

Rick P sounds like you have some preconceived notions about metal risered bows to me.

The reflex is a great bow, made by hoyt I think.
I would look at a Quinn. lot of bang for the buck.
Lots of good wood riser bows out there that will do what you want also.
Check out the TRADGANG classifieds and see what available. open minded of coarse.

Ok thanks because I am not looking for anything in particular just a good bow at a reasonable price that will do a lot of things well.
