bill, i had broadhead on the brain, but my brace
height is 7 1/2 inches, when it was lower it affected arrow flight, you might have to play around with it. doug

Doug,

The one picture of the bow strung looks like it has a fairly high BH, like 7.5" to 8" range.  That seems to be kinda of typical for recurves.  But then again, the Copperhead has a fairly low grip which would probably reduce the BH some.  But, I worry more about quietness and lack of handshock than anything else.

Well, I picked up the CC Copperhead recurve at The Archery Shop yesterday.  It is a sweet shooting bow.  I'll be sending it to Elmer to have him drop the draw weight to 46-47#@28".  The 49# is just a bit over my comfort zone for shooting a bow for very long.

It's very quiet, quick and shoots where I'm aiming. I love it!

I've decided that in addition to having Elmer reduce the draw weight, I'm also going to have him install some copperhead skins.  I recon that would be appropriate for a Copperhead recurve!    ;)    :D    :biglaugh:

It seems as though Copperhead skins are becoming difficult to come by.  However, Elmer does have a Timber Rattler skin that he said would be long enough to skin my CC Copperhead.  It should match the Bocote in the bow very well.  Below is a pic of two of Elmer's bows.  The one on the left has Timber Rattler skins and the one on the right is self explanatory!   :)

Doug,

Post a pic of your bow.  I would like to see what it looks like.

A Crow Creek recurve with a different looking handle.

This slide show will show a bunch of gorgeous bows that Elmer has built.  There's one of I believe his son Chris with a pig he shot with a recurve that is very distinctive.  Here's the pic.  I finally figured out how to get it.  Hmm, I also finally figured out it's Gary and not Elmer's son Chris and it's a deer not a pig!          :help:

I received an email from Elmer earlier in the week telling me he had finished the weight reduction, to 46.5#, and would start installing the snake skins and refinishing the bow the next day or two.    :)
