Take down bolts

Are brass bolts used in Take down recurves? I have a martin Hatfield and it would probably look cooler with brass bolt

I wouldn't think that brass would have enough tension strength. You may be able to find a cadmium plated steel bolt from a fastener store.

Brass is too soft for bolts under that kind of pressure.  Maybe there is a bronze alloy available with enough tensile strength....

Mine are all steel with brass washers. If you want cool, and eliminate the need for a wrench, get a set of Antler Limb Bolts. Some are real Antler, some are cast, with carvings on them. They usually go for around $45 and up, but they pay for themselves if you have to take the bow down often. They really dress a bow up too. I love mine. There are several Sponsors that can fix you up, but I only know "SticShooter"  from personal experience, and he does great work. Look in the Sponsors classifieds for his handle and shoot him a PM.

I have a takedown that is probably 35 years old that uses brass bolts and have never had a problem.

Brass bolts are sold and come with all "x" model BlackWidows, so I would think they should be good.

GO WITH THE BRASS IF YOU LIKE, DON'T THINK YOU WILL HAVE TO WORRY, I GOT SOME STANLESS STEEL SCREWS THAT SURE LOOKS GOOD

Black Widow bows are made with limbs bolted behind the riser.The pressure being pushed to the riser.A bow with the limbs on the front of the riser when drawed the pressure is pulling away from the riser. I would use steel myself.
