Three newbie arrow building questions

Question #1 What is the best all around sealer to use.

Question #2 What is the best glue to use for gluing the feathers on.

Question #3 What is the best glue to use on nocks.

water base poly and Duco will take you a long way.

I assume you mean wooden arrows.

#1 Lots of people us gasket lacquer for a sealer. I usually just use polyurethane. I like the kind with the stain in it for color, then I put 2-3 more coats of fast dry clear over the top, including over the cresting.

#2 I like Fast Fletch, which I think is just superglue gel. I have used superglue gel in a pinch. Again, there will be other opinions on this. I don't have much patience, so the Fast Fletch works for me. Some use Duco cement or FletchTight.

#3 Duco cement ($.96 a tube at Wallyworld).

I don't know if these are the best, but they work for me. Part of the fun of arrow building is in the experimenting though.

Wipe on poly.....three coats. Super glue(gel) for fletching, and fletch tite platinum for nocks. IT was my first set...
I then used a brand name crest paint and sealer.(Those green things I brought to the bunny hunt)
I ended up losing some of each set under the snow for about a month and half. The cheap first set help up way better than the green monsters. They developed a split in the laq....ended up with two bare shafts again....peeled right off.
My money will go towards the cheap stuff.....easier to use, faster, and a lot easier to get a hold of.

i use the poly also but i like to use CA glue for fletching, since i can rotate the jig and put on another feather about every 15 sec. and i like bohning furrel-tite hot melt for points, and i use CA for nocks also

If you just want the best without any other considerations, I would say that it is Bohning products for all three. Hap

The tape is awesome with a spot of glue at both ends.

Don't use Fletch-Tite on a poly finish, go with Duco or fletch tape.  I used Fletch-Tite on my first poly finished arrows and ended up with a bare shaft on the first shot.

I use a poly finish and contact cement for feathers and nocks. I love the bond I get from it. Never had a feather come off in years. Hard to beat fletch tape though. Very quick.
