Fedora 560 question

I've had my new 560 about 6 months and still have problems with tuneing. I can tune a bereshaft to shoot good at 20 yards but then my feathered shafts porpoise.When I get feathers flying right my bareshafts are low and left.I've tried several arrow combinations and adjusted knock everywhere.No matter the arrow I use I can't seem to get feathers and bareshafts togather.I am getting a lot of shelf cover wear.What is the highest you 560 owners brace your bow? I am open to any suggestions. I have tuned other bows fine and am getting very frustrated. If I posted in the wrong forum please forgive me and move or delete as needed. Thank you very much.

Hey Randy,

I brace my 560 at 7 3/4"  where is your knock point set, it sounds like you may still have it set too low?  Shelf wear is normaly nock point too low or too stiff of an arrow.  What weight is the bow at your draw, what length, and arrow are you shooting?

My fedora bows like a very high nock point and tend to shoot underspined arrows best.  I hope that is helpful to you.  My 560 is 60# at my draw and likes 2018 legacy arrows cut to 29 1/2" for my 28 1/2" draw with between 170-200 out front.  I use the dacron endless loop strings per the warranty requirements of the bow and also use 3 5" shield cut feathers.  I shoot three fingers under.  

Could your string be too tight on your nock?  I only get poor flight when I pluck the string on release.

Hello Mike,

My bow is 54@29 but I draw 30 measured to the back of the shelf.The best arrow I have shot yet is a 5575 Goldtip at 30 1/2 with a 160 point and a 2grn per lb tube.The arrow weighs 532grns.My friend owns a trad shop but only has carbon arrows.I have tried all different lengths and spines and tips on carbon. My nock is 3/8 above center.

 When I have tried to bareshaft tune, I am still a little nock high on the target at a completely center nock point from the shelf.I have to raise to 3/8 to keep the feathered arrows from porpoising.If I raise the nock any higher my bareshaft will dive at a 45 degree angle but feathered arrows don't fly too bad.

 Is your brace measured from the belly side of the shelf or the deepest part of the grip?

 Mainly I can get a feathered shaft to fly ok.I just can't get feathers and bareshafts to group togather with this bow yet.

Seeking Trad Deer, thanks for the help. My nock seems to be ok on tightness. It will come off the string when held point down and given a light tap on the string.

 This is the first bow I haven't been able to bareshaft tune yet and it is frustrating. I can get a bareshaft to fly straight and true from 20 yds but if I put feathers on that same shaft it does all kinds of strange things.

 Hey I know,maby I'll just hunt without feathers on my arrows.The rain shouldn't even affect them that way. I got to laugh or cry.

I have a 60" 560, 50@28. My brace is set at 7 1/2" and nock is 3/4" above; that's using a 12 strand Dynaflight 97 string. I shoot 70-75# cedar with a 160 gn tip. Arrows weigh 600 grains total. Bareshaft and fletched arrows fly the same-excellent! Call Mike Fedora and talk to him.

Thanks Bjorn, I don't mean to imply there is anything wrong with the bow. I am just frustrated at my inability to find the right combination.The great folks on this site have given me some new ideas that I think will help.Mike would be of great help finding an aluminum arrow combination but I would rather shoot carbon, however I will use that option if I keep having problems.
