Replace quiver foam?
« on: January 04, 2010, 09:26:00 PM »
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on replacing the foam in an old Delta III quiver. It is the one with an almost rounded hood, piece of keystock from hood to the gripper and the gripper is "kind of" half-round. I converted it to a GFA style (over the shoulder) a few years ago and the foam now is "gone".

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Michael

Go and get some of the foam blocks that they use for rooftop canoe carrying. It is made from a grey soft closed cell foam. There will be a couple of them in a pack for ten bucks. Split them with a pal or save one for later.

Tons of different foam you can use egg crate foam if you want a soft foam, you can get foam from HD for insulating windows 2" thick.I think they sell replacement foam for a softloc quiver for wheelies it's about the same shape you asking for.check out the website for softloc. If you cant get any egg crate foam I can send you a couple of different types.

By the way you can glue it in or use 2" velcro so you can interchange it.

I used that spray foam used to fill cracks, I think it called "Great Stuff" or something like that. It expands so be careful not to use too much, you'll have to poke it once it starts drying to get the puffiness down.  Also works great to fix holes in 3-D and block targets        .
Just one more step please!

A couple years ago I picked up one of those dense foam targets the Wheely guys use at Wally World for around 10 bucks .I just cut it out with my Band saw and sand to shape .If you don't like the white color I just stain the top to match the Quiver .Great stuff and a target will last you for ever.Steve

I use the old Wing and Delta round bow quivers. I've  replaced the top foam by going to the toy section of various stores and finding the firmest small footballs I could find. Then cut them in half and shape them until they fit correctly. At that point I glue them in place. After the glue sets I take a marker and mark where the arrows will be located and heat a feild point good and hot and brand my arrow hole locations. Total investment is usually around 2-3 dollars.  Ben
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!
