Like Jason above, I have different rests on different bows.  I have seal skin on some, velcro on others, bear - hair on one or two, and two bows have an old Herter's brush rest that look like a rounded set of tootbrush bristles that come out of the side of the strike plate.  Those were fairly common back in the day when many bows didn't have the radiused shelf to shoot off-the-shelf.

This is a Bear weather rest covered with mole skin. This is the first bow that I have done this with, I am pleased with the results.

Another vote for Velcro off the shelf. Also, on the side plate. I buy the black industrial strength at Wal-Mart. Stays put and lasts a dang long time.

Used to use the fuzzy velcro...too noisy for me on calm days - lost a chance at a 150 inch buck in Montana that heard the arrow on the velcro.  Went to the self sticking moleskin from then on (get it in the footcare area of the pharmacy in wally world).

Been using kangaroo rest and beaver strikeplate. Shave down where I like them and have really been liking this combo. Sealskin still my favorite but hard to find.

I have used the fuzzy side of velcro and didn't notice any noise Ryan...even in the quiet of my bow room.   What kind of noise did you get from it?

Very slight scraping sound.  Was a carbon arrow that I spray painted with gray auto primer, smoothed the primer with 0000 grit steel wool, then put 4 or 5 layers of Turtle Wax on the arrow to "sliken" it - so the arrow was smooth.  I don't know if I had a little grit on the velcro or a cheaper (rougher) version, or what. The buck was about 15 feet from me on a REAL windstill day and reacted to my draw at about 1/2 way back (he was past my stand 1/4ing away) and I could only attribute it to the rest.  May have heard my bones creak, or something, but I can't change them  :)

velcro can be noisy depending on the finish of the shaft.

I can hear the draw with my Victory carbons, but no sound with the Beeman ics/Easton powerflights.
