Newbie from Alabama needs Help
« on: January 09, 2010, 07:05:00 PM »
Hi Everyone - I just got my 1st bow this week (From Mudd) and it is great!   Now I need some help!  A few people suggested to me that I might be able to get someone local to help me learn about shooting.  My husband is deployed to Iraq and won't be home until next Oct. and I would love to be practicing at home.  I pretty much know nothing about trad. bows.  I have bow and gun hunted all my life and thought this would be a cool challenge.  My 11 year old daughter is involved with Archery in 4-H and she loves it.   Anyone from Alabama out there willing to help?

Thanks!
Dana

Where abouts in 'bama are you?

There's plenty of great guys around the state who'd be more than willing to help you out.

I'm on the Redneck Riveria, that is the Gulf Coast.
If I can help, let me know.
ASTB has members all over the state.  Maybe I can hook you up with some of them.
Let me know what part of the stste you're in, and I'll see what we can do about getting someone to Mentor you.

Calhoun County between Gadsden and Anniston.  Let me know if you are nearby.

Hey Dana... Mudd here. I told you they'd come out of the woodwork to offer help. It's a great thing about being a part of this Trad-dicted family.
If there's anything else I can help with don't hesitate to speak up. While your husband is away serving our country we can offer help in lieu of his being able to do for you.

Welcome! You're at home now, relax and enjoy the journey with the rest of us.
God bless,Mudd

I live down near Auburn,  but I don't mind driving a bit -Birmingham, Montgomery, Columbus, GA are all within my distance.

My wife and I live near Florence, shoot lots of tournaments and would be glad to help.

Try to make it to any of the ASTB tournaments at Briarfield Iron Works or Tannehill state park. We shoot for fun, no serious competition and would welcome you and your daughter.

Would someone local step up and help Dana figure out what arrows she'll want to be shooting out of her Bear Tigercat?
Thanks in advance!

Look up the ASTB (Alabama Society of Tradional Bowmen). There are many traditional archers all over 'bama that can help you. I have been to some shoots in Alabama and have met some really great people there. Look up some of the scheduled shoots and just show up! People in Alabama are great folks - I know because I graduated from Auburn.
