Super Slam ?
« on: January 10, 2010, 10:48:00 AM »
I was wondering how I go about getting my animals verified. I am a few animals away from doing this and was wondering who confirms the kills.

That would surely be P&Y Jack.

I would think the P&Y scoresheet would be a convenient way to verify each animal also, since it requires a signature by a witness that each animal was taken fair chase, with archery equipment.

Obviously each one doesn't have to QUALIFY for the record book...but it would be the easiest way if not the correct way to corroborate your achievement of the goal.

Ray, you don't hafta kill males to do the slammer slam or whatever it is called. So P&Y scoresheets won't work.
Chuck Adams made the whole thing up, maybe he could tell you.

Yea not all mine were males. I was wondering how they were substantiated. I know I killed em and wont be able to complete it because of some sheep tags that I can't get.

Biggie,

That's what I meant when I said they don't have to be entered in P&Y...but wouldn't the score sheet be a good place to begin with a verification signature?
Chuck didn't make it up either, I don't believe...because B&C already had something similar  going and I believe he and some guys cooked it up  for archery hunters- but I don't believe CA thought that up all on his own.

Why don't you email Fred Eichler at Fulldraw Outfitters and find out the process, Jax.

The only SLAMS I'm interested in are the GRAND SLAM at Denny's for breakfast and the HAM SLAM of all the pig species around the world before I kick the bucket.

I heard Chuck Adams talking with Fred Eichler and he said that he came up with the term "super slam".

Not only did Chuckie come up with it, he patented it so no--one else could use it before he did. Pretty sharp cookie!

I'm with you Raymo, Hamslam at Denny's is my favorite

Well that sure is in line with the World's Greatest Self Promoter.... I'm suprised the guys at B&C didn't sue- it certainly isn't unique enough to merit a patent...someone was asleep at the wheel.

maybe the HAM SLAM should be on our "bucket list" Biggie.

we've already done the GRAND SLAM at Denny's enough between us to last a lifetime!

The Grand Slam Club has started their own Super Slam magazine and club. They sent me a copy of the first publication a couple months ago. I have it around the house here somewhere. There was something in the magazine that said Chuck's patent didn't stop them from using the term Super Slam for their club. They now have their own patent that stops anyone else from using it though I believe. Guess I need to find the magazine and read through it again to be sure.

J.R., I don't think there is ANY official recording agency for the SuperSlam.  It's more of an informal group of guys who've accomplished it.  I could be way off base, but before the rest of the group would tell you their secret handshake or give you the password, some photos might help your case.

It's been 16 years since I've seen you, J.R., your daughter still paying for all your hunts?  And did you ever buy Tom some binoculars?   :)

jax,

I found the Super Slam magazine I received in the mail. It looks like if you are a member of Grand Slam Club/ Ovis the organization will record your animals for entry into their Super Slam Club. Looks like all you need is date, location, outfitter/booking agent and a hunting picture of the animal.

All of this slam business actually begins with the same person who coined the Grand Slam of sheep Grancel Fitz. In the Fifties he attempted to harvest all of the animals recognised by the Boone and Crockett Club (more than 30 game animals now)... Chuck Adams coined the name Super Slam in 1990
