Did anybody see the trad episode on the tv show, "Closing The Distance", on Versus? THey had a Texas bowhunt and an interview with Roy Hall of Navajo Bows.

No didn't see it.  I don't watch a whole bunch of hunting TV as I don't find it much of a spectator sport.  I do enjoy that show with Fred Eichler, who hunts with a Palmer recurve...

I saw it......I liked the fact that they also showed the guy missing. Good segment with Roy Hall. All in all not a bod show, good to see some trad. stuff on the tube!!

Mike Avery was hunting with a Predator recurve last week on one of those shows...can't remember which one as I just ran into it...I think it was Pursuit Channel.

I think the popularity of Fred's show is sinking in to some others maybe.  Who knows...it's good as long as it is portrayed good.

It's good to hear that some trad shows are appearing.  Sad to say I don't get that channel.

I kind of swore off of most "hunting tv"......too many instant experts, tinhorn hunting heros and WAY too much "hornporn" attitude.  I'm still trying to figure out how you give a 180" whitetail the "smackdown"!  Guess they grew up watching "wrestling" or whatever that is..........

I will admit to watching Fred occasionally on Easton TV......I suspect I won't hear Fred say that he "slammed that one" too many times.

I caught it awhile back. I own one of Roy's bows and it is nice to see such a wonderful craftsman get some TV time. All in all I try to avoid the various TV hunt shows because of the lack of respect that is shown to the animals but I will say it is nice to see a fella with a longbow or recurve in his hand during a hunt. Now what we need is the Trad Channel, ALL trad archery ALL the time with all the misses, raghorns instead of muay grandes, does, possums, rabbits and anything else us guys love to chase with tradtional tackle  :)  ...perhaps TradGang TV! That's be cool!

Good for Roy, but i just don't like to watch hunting on TV.One  of the things that bugs me are the 23 year old "experts".

Awhile back they had an episode with Mike Hanback (?) in his show where he hunted whitetails in MT, and the young man guiding him hunted with a longbow and plaid gear....taking a great whitetail buck with his longbow.  At any rate, it was one of the best trad hunting episodes I'd ever seen, with lots of reference to the journey, history and romance of hunting the hard way.   Good show.  Yes on Versus.
