Winning or losing is not the important thing,,the important thing is how well you played the game.

When I was younger it was more like a rabid wolverine, but as I got older, it's getting more like a snapping turtle. Sooner or later something will stumble by.
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

As I grow older my inner beast uses his library card more. As important as anything else in my hunting pack is a good book to read. I suppose that puts me in "lounge mode" rather than wolf mode.

I am obviously Man.  We are the only animal that makes hunting harder than it has to be.  If I was a stone cold killer I'd just stick with a gun.

The first time I slept out under the full moon sky in the desert I woke up and recognized the scene. I had been there before!
I felt I should be running down game with my tribe-mates, spear in hand.

Thats my inner beast.

Really, I do love Spam and Eggs 8^).

I'm pretty sure I have not met any inner beast.  I would rather think my human mind digests information from each woods trip, and each hunting foray, and helps apply that to the overall experience.

We are what we are, reasoning, sentient beings, that have differing needs in our lifestyles. The person who hunts still maintains enough of the hunter's spirit to know he is part of a bigger role than that of one who plops his arse on a lounge chair every evening after his workday expires and the weekend comes.

I think if I am guided by anything, it is by my past experiences and those who were involved in allowing, and encouraging me to be a hunter. Those people remain in my heart and mind and will be there until I cross over.  Those are my inner beasts.   Well, maybe "inner bests."

Based on the following I guess i would have to be a wolf also LOL!

"Wolves are coursing predators that chase prey over long distances in open habitat and have a relatively low success rate, selecting substandard prey. The success rate on elk is 20 percent."

Good answers to a good question, and I think I know where a lot of them come from. Go look in a mirror … now say “Ishi” … see those four canine teeth? It’s in us all.    John

Sasquatch... and now that I found that camo bow some hunter lost......I eat better.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways-BOW in one hand-ARROWS in the other-Body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming-WOO HOO! WHAT A RIDE!

Mountain Lion...I tend to hunt slower and more efficiently by myself, and all senses are on edge.

This season, my inner beast sure as heck isn't a carnivore!!!  Whatever kind of beast it is, it's not much of a hunter....maybe a squirrel, kind of fidgety in the tree, makes annoying noises when startled....

My beast is Human. It doesn't get nastier than that. Like an alien that has come with high tech weapons to this stone age place. Like the movie predator. The prey really has no chance if I don't screw up.
