To Autumarcher, I live in Westphalia near Lansing.I was diagnosed by my doctor. I will try the anti inflamatorys for a few weeks then if that don't work he will give a cortizone shot I will ask about therapy. I have had back surgery, knee surgery and vein surgery so I've gone through the process before. Im very active and exercise regularly so the therapy thing will be great

Same problem. My Orthopedic Dr wants too slice and dice. I am putting that off for now. I did get the shot, it helped a lot. I have dropped to 40 lb bow. So far, everything is ok, some pain, but I can live with it.

I was injured in 2008, on top of an older injury, was in pain for 3 months. I had X-rays, cortisone shots, 3x, hurts like hell. Got a little better, then started getting worse. Couldnt sleep in any position, finally got an MRI, only showed a bone spur rubbing tendon. Went in for outpatient surgery, to have it remove and cleaned up, woke up with extensive rotator cuff surgery, hole drilled through my shoulder and arm bone, still have a cable holding it all together. Very painful surgery and afterward, worse than back surgery for me. I did what the doc and therapist who I saw daily told me, 2 and1/2 months later I was able to shoot a #36 bow foor 10 shots at a time. At 3 months I could shot a #40 bow,25 shots. I used this time to really work on my form and as a result I am shooting better than ever and up to #50. I am not still full recovered, probably wont ever be according to my doc, but am about80%. Doc said was one of the worst cases he ever worked on, and very little showed up in MRI. IF I had gotten surgery when it first started hurting, would have onlly been off work 2 weeks, was off 3 months. Listen to the doctors and therapists, go slow.

People who shoot heavy weight bows are going to have shoulder problems if they shoot a lot. I dropped to a 45 pound bow and started to shoot less till I built my shoulder back up and now can shoot with no pain. I don't overdo it and shoot a lot less. Twenty or thirty shots at the max.

I had impingement syndrome for several years, and was able to finally rid myself of it with the aid of a device I ordered off the net about 10 yrs ago, called the "shoulder horn".  I did not personally go to PT, but I'm a physician and knew a bit about what I was doing.  Good luck with your injury and recovery.

I'm in my first week of recovery after extensive surgery for a complete rotater cuff tear. The first few days were extremely painful but it's getting better.I just had surgery on Friday.
The doc said that I would be in recovery for 3-6 months. It is a total drag to not be able to shoot right now but I have some 38# limbs ordered for my BW recurve and hope to be shooting them in 3-4 months if recovery goes quickly.
I was injured at work and kept working, working out,and shooting until I just tore it up.I had been to PT and had a couple of cortisone injections but the pain returned in full force until I couldn't even get my 44# bow back. The first injection was like a miracle in that I was pain free for 3 months and I may have done some real damage then.
Take care of yourself because you don't want to go through what I'm going through right now.

It's funny that Ifound this thread today, I'm here at home from work because Ishot my bow about 8-10 shots yesterday after work. About bedtime last my shoulder hurt so bad Icouldn't raise my arm. Spent about 30 min. in the hot tub this morning and it's somewhat better, I don't need the good stuff, just a couple of naproxen.
