"clicker" use and set up

I bought a "crick-it" and it arrived today.  I understand that they are designed to be set up just a fraction short of your draw length and then supposedly a little back tension sets it off.  Is that the way most of you trad shooters use it?  All I really want to do is be sure that I am really coming to my full draw/anchor.  I don't tend to look and hold once I hit anchor!  Am I on the right track with my thinking for how I'd like to use the clicker - or am I wasting my time? I thought it would be a great "form training" device.  Comments and observations appreciated.

You can accomplish what you are wanting to do. I generally release when I hit full draw. With the click it You relax your hand ( or release the arrow) when you hear the click, that will train you when to let go. Enjoy

I've been thinking about one as I've been "snap shooting" a bit the past 2 years.  I thought maybe it would help me cure it.  How do you set them up and does the little chain do any damage to the limb when I comes forward?

Yes, the chain "can" damage the finish on the limbs. It can make some noise too. I throw the chain away.  I replace it and and the string with the cord like the compound guys use to make those string loops.  I leave a 1" tag through the string and adjust it that way.

When I shot one I used a round shoe lace from Wally World. The kind for dress shoes. No chain. Tie a knot in the end and put a drop of super glue on it and let it dry. Run the string thru the back of the blade to the bow string. Untwist the bow string and run the string thru it at your draw length. Tie a knot in it and another drop of glue. NOT on the bow string. Pull the knot past the string a little and let dry. Adjust draw length by pulling clicker string up or down bowstring. Shot a clicker that way for years before finally switching lefty. Good luck.
