Target butt question

We need some new target butts that will last. I saw some in Wis. that looked good. Would like to know what they were. They were made from a rubbery foam material. They were black,about half inch thick,cut to 2ft.-4ft.stacked and banded.Would like to know where to get it,approx. cost and duribility

Leonard, I bought this one in 1995 and its still going strong. I have never done a thing to it. Great thing about it is the arrow hit and stay perfectly straight in it cutting down on busted arrows from hitting each other. They remove with ease. No idea how many 1000's of shafts have been in it. Best thing I have ever purchased bowhunting wise.

I eagerly await the answer to this one. We use old carpet that we get for free, then cut to length and width and band it. It works and is very cheap, but is a lot of time consuming work. If there is a better alternative that is not that expensive, I am all ears. Ben

You can make these any size you want. These were actually made for an indoor archery range. Mine is 4' x 4'.

Yeah the first three panel sections are some sort of nylon mess. The back is a very heavy faboric of some sort. The front two panels around the 2x4 section is hollow between them. The back section around the 2x8 is stuffed with something that has not broke down at all over the years even in the center of the target.

I put the casters on the bottom and it's easier to roll around.

Ok buddy - time to open her up and spill the beans.

that's why the arrows stay straight I guess - it's not hitting against something dense that holds it shape. If you put an arrow into a old hole sometimes it follows that hole and turns your arrow.

The front two sheets keep the arrows straight. The backing inside the 2x8s doesn't at all guide the arrows. I have no idea even whats in there as I've never opened it but whatever it is it has no memory at all.

Knock yourself out Allen, the company I bought it from went out of business years ago. They should have made them were they would break down so they could service them like our automakers do today. Haha.

At our archery range we have target butts that are made out of compressed plastic and shrink wrap banded together.  A local company saves the plastic wrapping they get, they are made into big bales.  They work great, I don't know how many years we get out of them but it is alot.
