...my Norm Blaker Bow !!!
« on: January 22, 2010, 08:32:00 AM »
Most know Norm Blaker (MICH.)for His life of muzzleloading and flint knapping. But He makes a few wonderful bows. I'm lucky to have this one. He made this one of osage and sinew in 1990. I'm so proud to have it my friend !!!! , Jeff

The art on leather grip is mine. Its the only other bow I put it on that I didn't make. I did it to honor Norm..a brother of nature !

Now there is a name I haven't heard in a while!  I grew up watching Norm and Ron LaClair shoot at the Fred Trost Outdoors Fair in Houghton Lake.  I ask Ron about Norm every now and again.  He is a very talented man and has some amazing stories.

Great bow made by a great man!!

Hey, I hunted with Norm in Ohio too! We hunted with our buddy Tom Cable of Windstorm Archery. Norm is a great guy, I love the video of him beating Ron in the shoot-off!

HEY... I ran out of arrows and that big suitcase quiver that Norm had must have had at least three or four dozen arrows in it....    :biglaugh:

I hunted and camped with Norm just last September on a black powder squirrel hunt. You can read about it in the February issue of Woods-N-Water News that just hit the News Stands.

Norm is truly a craftsman. He not only makes great bows but also knives, turkey calls, muzzleloading guns, flint points, you name it and he can make it... and he has that touch that makes them look like they were made 200 years ago.

I know Ron, but I love to bring it up and have you explain it! Norm is a great guy to hang out with. I don't advise sharing a room with him though, that ole boy can snore!

..one little story about Norm. Norm was my guest at My Ohio Handicapped Bowhunt (PCBA) in the 80's. We all wen't out to hunt and the only thing anyone got that day was a big ol' groundhog the happened to walk in front of Norms arrow when he was stump shooting. Anyway ... Norm had that stinky semi haired whisle pig skinned and cooking before long. Now these Southern "redneck" Alabama boys  never seen or tasted a "PIG" like that. But when we had enought beer to get the guts to eat Norms cooking...that was it. All there was left was a pile of white bones. THEY ALL LOVED IT..TO SAY THE LEASE

WHAT A GREAT HUNT WITH GREAT FRIENDS !!!

Was a pleasure to sit in with Norm at the Great Lakes Primitive Gathering in 1999.  Napping , bows, smokepoles, and not to forget the stories!!  Good to hear he's still out there doing his living!
