The easy way to remember this is if the nocks points towards your stronger arm, it is too strong/stiff. For most right handed people their right arm is stronger than their left. Left handed people have a stronger left arm.

You'll have to add weight since it's impossible to uncut them.
It's why you always read the advice to start with them full length and cut off in very small segments. I do 1/4" of less per cut.
