Sonny was justly rewarded.Good dog gets my ducks, trees sqs.and finds deer.Forgot my equipment Bob Lee about 50/51 at my draw,2016 arrow and snuffer.None of my equipment was the cause of no blood trail I just did not put it in the right place. Will consider two blades next year.

Hey Kip,
Good job buddy. I know how tuff it is in the palmetto. I hunt Tensas refuge and it looks just like where you are. Lots of folks just give up to quick.

Great story.  Did you train the dog to trail deer or blood or both.

Rightminded  I started when he was a pup.Everytime I cooked some deer I save the blood and made a drag zig/zag trail with a weiner at the end.He caught on right away. This deer had no blood to follow and could have been many deer, hogs, small animals that nite roaming around.I think in all our ramblings but still in the right direction he caught some scent and found her app.250/300 yards of travel. Thanks for the good comments but still not proud of my shot my dog was the hero.Kip

Give that dog something "fine" to eat.........he deserves it.  Another example where a deer would no doubt be lost if it wasn't for a good dog nose!
