As a hunting bow they are awesome! Fit is excellent, but detail to finish (faint sanding marks) isn't as good as on other custom bows. But then a Wapiti doesn't set you back as much cash wise either as them super fancy ones. Performance is outstanding! Super fast, quiet & accurate.

Just my opinion of course, but I'll not give up my Wapiti, while I did trade my Black Douglas. Read what ya like into that.

All the best! - Q.

I have a 50# Wapiti takedown I bought on the Classifieds on this site.  The grip is excellent.  Speed is good, maybe not as fast as my Widow, but still very good.  The bow is very easy to shoot consistently!  Here are the results.

Liked this pic so much I cropped it for my avatar.
Mr. Chastain makes a great bow.

Bought a used one in the late 1980s. Hunted with it in Texas, Colorado, and Utah over several years. They are very quite and easy to shoot. Still have mine, but don't shoot it much anymore.

Bought my Wapiti TD 62" 60@28" back in 1987.  No complaints.  Back in 87 Keith didn't offer a lot of options.  There was no clear glass that was good enough back then that he would use.  So you had black, brown or green.  Limbs where made of actionwood (maple).  My riser is bubinga and walnut fadeout on limbs are bubinga.

The Wapiti TD is a very smooth drawing bow.  My bow will sling a 570 grainer @ around 185 fps.  This is with a dacron B50 string.

Today, there are a lot more options.  Bottomline, great hunting bow!  Plus, they can't be all that bad since Rick Duggan completed the Super Slam w/ a Wapiti TD.

The more I look at them the more I want one.

They just look plain mean. I can't hardly take it anymore, but I am fighting it off the best I can.  :banghead:

You just as well go ahead and get one. I bought one used at another site and really like it. I talked to Keith more than once, He knows bows.

I have a Wapiti Spike TD longbow 64"60#@29 that I like to shoot more than my Howatt Bushmaster Longbow that is the same length but only 45#@28. The wapiti is smoother, quieter and shoots better for me.As mentioned earlier, finish(sanding marks)is not the best out there, but the shooting qualities are very good.

I have the Wapiti T/D SL with the dove-tail take down system.  I love it.  Super smooth bow, and it's just fit me the best of any I've owned to date.  Great bows.

I have a set of wapiti limbs for my bear takedown, and I can say that Keith definitely knows how to make a fast set of limbs.
