New to me super shrew any info ?

I have just picked up a 56" 58 at 28 Super shrew deluxe with the bow bolt with the serial #G251-10.08.
I am shooting trad only 400 carbons (9.1g/inch) at 30 3/8" with 250 up front for about 550 total weight. Or CE 250's at 30 1/2 (total 585)
These are the arrows I shoot out of rodney's Firehawk longbow (54 @ 28) I hunt with.

I am assuming 3/16 past center shot ?
Along with bareshafting I like to play with the spine calculator.

I do still have the 450 string on it braced at 7 1/4".
I also use some 6 strand TS endless loop on my bows normally.

Anything you got interms of information on the bow and arrow matches would be greatly apreciated.

Also, my rubber sillencers came spaced from the top 3 5/8" and from the bottom 5 1/2" I automaticly evened them out but then I rewatched "Masters of the barebow" and I thought I saw Ron's bow with a similar set up, just checking.

Any good ideas for homemade bolt caps as mine were not inculuded

I'm not sure but I think most Shrews aren't cut past center. If anything, they're cut just to center or maybe less.

Shrew bows typically take 10-15lbs more spine that what is marked on the side even though they are not cut to center. My Scout recurve is marked 55@28 and shoots 65-70 woodies cut to 29" BOP great. I draw it about 52lbs. I also shoot CE150's cut to 27.5" with 175 tip out of her too.

I would bet your CE250's would tune just fine if you cut them down a little to stiffen them. Just be careful, carbons get stiff QUICK once you get close to where you need to be. Start out cutting them 1/2" at a time, then when you get close change to a 1/4" at a time. Not sure if you can, you did not mention your draw length ? If you cannnot cut them too much then drop to a 175 tip, that will help a little.

I have found the opposite of NoCams but I shoot carbons on my Shrews.  I need a weaker spine (just keep my arrows longer with a heavy front) since the bow is not center cut.  Some have had their Shrews made center cut but the standard is not.

I have some center cut Shrews, but that was by special order and is not the standard. Also, on heavier bows or bows with materials that are not as strong it may not be recommended. I shoot AD Trad Lites and AD Hammerhead Trad Lites with Shrews similar to yours with good results, regardless of point weight. Other shafts are not as forgiving and may require you to experiment more.

Are you sure your bow is not a Shrew Classic Hunter? With a 56" length and your draw, I cannot imagine you have a Super Shrew that is the longer riser design as opposed to the Classic Hunter. I can certainly understand the fact that the bow shoots so well for you, because that is generally true with everyone who tries them. Congratulations on your new Shrew.

Actually bought the bow advertised as a Classic hunter from a fellow tradganger but is says super shrew deluxe on the bow so  shot it, liked it and didn't think twice about it.

Allan the string that came with it was RONS string ok....it's setup the why he shoots it...the silencer may have moved when I was unstringing it.

I believe i gave you all the info on the bow inside the pkg.

Sorry about the name thang....I was trying to get the ad in and never checked my typing.....she was the best he made anyway and with the bow bolt it was just what I needed.

I know when I ordered wood arrows the ones I got weren't spined heavy enough...I got some test arrows from Paul Jalon and found that the ones spined for 85# flew the best with 145 grain tips.

I shot carbons out of it - 340's with 350 up front (100 grain insert and 250 grain pnts).

Gregg said today that they like about #15 more spine than listed weight.  I thought he said 3/16" before center.  It was not cut to center or sure.  I shot a 48#@28 pulled to 29" and it was shooting a 56# dynamic spine carbon arrow very well.

I am almost sure you have a Classic Hunter, even though it says "Super Shrew Deluxe", but you can email Gregg Coffey and give him the serial number and he can tell you for sure. [email protected]

You can also measure the riser from the end of one fadeout to the end of the other fadeout. If the measurement is about 14 inches, you have a Classic Hunter.

i just got a new to me classic hunter i wanted to get wood arrows for it, i called ron and he also said that the bows like a heavier arrow im shooting around 15lbs more than the scaled draw weight
