Today was the first day in awhile that I've had some free time to get in the woods........I went to a spot that is one of my favorites to to stump shoot at, while scouting at the same time. Warm temps and heavy rain last week reduced the snowcover to almost nothing, making the walking pretty easy as far as snow goes......
Here is a pic of the property from my truck, the huntable piece is across the railroad tracks at the bottom of the cut cornfield....
I made my way to the south side of the property, and after getting into the woods soon came upon this rub and trail.....I have always wanted to hunt this particular spot, just really tough to get to.....
Deer sign was decent, but there was turkey sign everywhere, more than I've ever seen on this property.
I made my way acroos and over to the north side and took a water and snack break......
Beavers have hit a small stream here, and dammed it up pretty well. Two years ago this was a two foot wide stream in a grassy bottom, on the other side of the hill across this creek is a hidden apple orchard that I can't get to anymore because of the beavers........not stopping the turkeys though!!!!
These beavers don't seem to care about tree size either.......
Here is a picture of my Morrison Shawnee......she seems at home in these woods.
I made my way back to the truck and home to a hot cup of coffee......next time out I will be cutting a trail to a pretty sweet stand site near that rub and trail......
