Big BH's small shafts
« on: February 04, 2010, 05:18:00 PM »
I'm a big Magnus Snuffer 160 grn user. There are great on my woodies and now I'm thinking of trying some gamegetters from 3Rivers. They have them sized as carbons (2117 = 400)

The question I have is do you add anything to the shafts to fill the gap? What I mean is the shafts are smaller size more like a 5/16" point would fit better. I want to use the snuffers and they are made to fit 11/32-23/64" shafts. I have some inserts that fit inside the snuffers, but have some of the snuffer opening sticking out past the insert.

Does anyone have a set-up like this and how to you have it set-up?

It shouldn't anything functionally, Sal. If you were using axis carbons you could use the broadhead adapter rings.

Actually, since a 5/16" point is 20/64", most of the adaptors you'd use with the snuffers are 22/64", and a .400 aluminum is 21/64", you'd be better of with the adaptors than the 5/16" point. At least, that's what Ashbys reports say...

So the Snuffer with the 11/32" adapter will work OK with the gamegetter shafts... Kool. I was hoping for that, but didn't know if it would fit good enuff.

Yep, will work just fine with or without adapter rings.

I shot 11/32 broadheads on 5/16 shafts for quite a while.  I think it works very well.

I use AD's but longbowben uses the small GT's w/160's and they fly well.
