Any thoughts on Dan Tolke's Super D bow?
« on: February 05, 2010, 06:02:00 PM »
If you have shot or owned this bow, how does it compare to other D profile bows that you have shot? Any pictures?

Thanks!

I'll be watching this as well.  Up to this point, everything I have seen is good.

The Super D is a very smooth shooter with a VERY MILD thump as far as handshock is concerned. Absolutely no vibrations felt through the riser with anything I have shot through it from fairly heavy woods to very light carbons (8gpp-11gpp). My "go to bow" is my Whip and Dan's Super D is very comparable performance wise. Of course fit and finish is above and beyond as always. The grip has a very slight sculpture in it that you really can't see but you feel on the 1st shot. It aids in a repeatable hand position making it much easier to shoot accurately from the start. I have shot a few D's over the time I have been into strictly sticks and some I needed dental work to replace the fillings in my teeth and others I thought I had grabbed a hornets nest upon release of the arrow. NONE of that horse play with the Super D.

Best "D" shape Bow ive shot.  Ive shot 5 of them, varying from one of the very first "D" bows  Dan made to the most current models.   They are all smooth, stable, comfortable, pointable, and have little to "no" handshock at all.

I have shot 4 or 5 other major names in the "D" bow market, and Dans "D" is by far the most comfortable to shoot,  has the least amount of shock, and "felt" like they shot the fastest (although I dont own a chronograph).

At some point soon I will be ordering another D, and it will be one of Dans.

My recent experience with a Toelke D bow is very similar to Wapiti's.  Very smooth draw, minimal if any vibration.  I was surprised by the good cast, but it may have lacked a little speed compared to my moab etc.  I liked the grip as well.

I wouldnt compare the "D" to a highly R/D type like the Moab,  2 different animals.   The Moab ismore close in design to the Whip, that would be a more apt comparison.

My guess is if you take the top "D" type bows on the market, Toelke would be among the top for performance, and is definitely one of the best "mannered".

They are in the same ballpark. I like the grip better on this toelke than I did my Mohawk. The toelke may be a touch quieter but not enough to make much difference. The Mohawk is slightly more aggressive. The toelke has narrower limbs with a deeper core. Hand shock and speed are compareable. Both are keepers but I prefer the toelke.
