A & H ACS takedown set ups

I received a new A & H takedown a couple of weeks ago. Tuning has been interesting. I'd be curious in hearing what your using as far as arrow spine, draw length, pounds (of your bow) and how much if any you had to build out the side plate. I have mine shooting great with bare shafts and fletched, I'm just surprised what I ended up with.

I have 2 ACS Bows. One is 66" 46lbs @ 28. I shoot Carbon Express 150's with 200 up front. Shoots them like darts.The other is 62" 54# @ 28. Still trying different shafts. Shoots the 150' OK also shoots 250's OK . Not totally satisified yet. what did you find ???  Thanks Randy

My son and I each shoot 50# ACS 3 pc and 1 pc, 50# as well.
With 145gn points bearshafting, we both need 75# shafts cut to 29"-we draw 27+.
We also have a 53# 3 pc, and we built out the side plate so it would shoot the same arrows.

My one piece 66" 47@28 with a 6 3/4 brace shoots all of the following configurations perfectly. I have found it very forgiving of spine. I draw 28"

gt 3555 30" 140 grain tip

gt 5575 30" 125 grain tip
gt 5575 30" 140 grain tip

Arrow dynamic orange label full length. 100 grain brass insert 250 grain tip.

all these are shot with the factory velcro pad that comes on the bow.

I built out the side plate on my ACS by 3/16",I used some leather to build it out.I shoot Beman ICS 340 with 100 gr. insert and 125 gr. point,my ACS is 57#@28 and 62".

My ACS is 64" 57#@29 1/2". I have it braced at 7 1/4". It like a 30" 340 beman black max or Easton Axis with 225 grains upfront.

14" wood A & H ACS 64" 57 @ 29" braced at 7 1/4. I shoot AD Hammerheads Lites at 30" with 275grns up front and 5 1/2" shild cut feathers.

Mine is 66" and 54@31"...I use a 500 grain gold tip 55/75 thats left full length (32")...I get great flight and performance out of it....My mistake was aluminum riser...should have got wood instead. I don't like the added weight of the aluminum riser

66" with 16" RC riser.  58# at my almost 31" draw.  Shooting Axis 300's with 100gr brass insert and 125 or 145 gr head.  Also shooting Beman MFX realtree 300's with regular insert and 200 gr head.  Both arrows weigh right around 600 grs.  I also have a 54# set of limbs that take a 340 Axis set up the same as above.

My ACS td is 62" 51@28.  The bottom of my arrow nock is at 5/8.  My brace is 7 1/4 from the throat of the grip.  I'm shooting 28.5 Heritage 150's with a 175 grain tip (530 grains).  I did bump my shelf out a touch with a small piece of leather similiar in thickness to a match stick.

I just tired one of those rubber sleaves on the grip and really do like the feel of the bow with it on.  I picked mine up from Eclipse broadheads.  I have a low grip.  The low grip feels MUCH better to me than the standard.  My riser is 14".

I currently have a Great Northern quick detach quiver on the bow.

Great bows and Dan is fantastic to work with!

I have a couple of 64-inchers -- 52# and 56#.  I find I generally have to overspine by about 15# with woodies, more with the heavier bow, or I have to build out my arrow shelf a little.

They're cut 3/16 past center.  With a skinny (carbon) arrow, it's almost impossible to get good arrow flight without building out the side plate a little.

Thanks for the replies. My bow is 50# @ 28", I draw 29.5", my arrows are cut to 30.5". I ended up with an ICS 300 with a 125 field tip. I tried 400's, 340's and the 300's. Built out the side plate and experimented. I could get the 340's to shoot but they ended up a little on the short side. The 300's bare shafted good and shot to the same point as the fletched ones. I have excellent arrow flight.

A fellow here in Fargo has one ~45#@28" and he had to build out his side plate to get some arrows to fly well.  Then again he was trying to get 100 gr brass inserts and 250 grain points to shoot well.

Mine is a 64",45#@29, alcoa ebony riser. I've settled on Carbon Tech Panthers, which is a full tapered shaft. I cut mine down from the NOCK end (makes the shaft stiffer) to 30-3/4" throat of nock to back of insert. It's loaded with 100 grain insert and 200 grain point. Gives me a 580 grain arrow with 26% FOC. If you go the carbon arrow route, you will need to build out the sideplate for consistant flight. I shoot right handed and when I sighted down my arrow with the string centered over the limb fades, the point of my arrow was well to the right of the string  :eek: (using just a velcro sideplate). Like others, I had to build it out around 3/16 thick to get the point over to the left side of the string before I started tuning. It's a fun bow to shoot, but they do demand your attention. Enjoy.
