insert glue
« on: February 10, 2010, 08:47:00 PM »
Just got some arrows from 3R but forgot to get some glue.  There are no archery shops around me. Are there any other options?  Epoxy, Durco, hot glue gun?  Anything from Lowes or do I just need to bite the bullet (arrow?) and pay shipping on a glue order?
Thanks

Is this for the inserts on carbon arrows?

If so, here's a couple that worked well for me.

J&B Weld
Gorilla glue impact Super glue
long set time 2 part epoxy

Just remember to clean the inside of the shaft good...

I finally settled with the Gorilla Glue, works excellent if you clean the shafts, inserts and follow the GG instructions!

I have been using 2 part marine epoxy and it seems to be working good. I got it at lowes. It seems to be working better than anything I have used before.LCH

I have used hot glue twice in the last 2-weeks on inserts for carbons(my sons arrows,I'm a wood man) and it holds fine for me.

A while back I switched from 24 hour cure epoxy to Gorilla Glue Impact Tough Formula super glue. It works very well and is more convenient.  I prepare the shaft ID by lightly sanding and cleaning with denatured alcohol.
