trad hunting on outdoor channel
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:36:00 AM »
i watched a trad hunting show on outdoor channel tonight and the older guy (joe i believe)led you on a journey of flint knapping and making his own osage selfbows.in this show he killed a javelina a doe and a very nice buck.this took place in texas.his average shot was less than ten yds.he has been making his own bows and arrows for a while.this show was just awesome.i had no clue he was into trad archery.this show is a MUST SEE.very informative with great trad kill footage.i am impressed and have a newfound respect for this guy.   :clapper:      :clapper:

Do you remember which show? I would love to watch it. They have been known to replay a show or two so I might have a chance if I know what to look for.
Thanks in advance!
God bless,Mudd

Not sure if any one has noticed but Dish has a new channel 285 that is running a few hunting shows. Not seen any Traditional yet.

Well, just finished watching it.  That was pretty cool!  Was Thornberry one of the one's who created Buckmasters?  The name sounds familiar.  Anyway, great show and you could tell he was proud.

The reason theres not more Trad on TV is like everything else it's money. The sponsors of these shows are selling the latest space age "bows" arrows, and gizmos. The makers of traditional gear don't have the deep pockets to compete with the big companies. It's a testimony to the traditional way that it's making a big comeback. More folks are finding that bending a stick and nocking a string is more fun. What I've been observing though is that trying to make that stick do more than a trad bow should be expected to do is liable to head us back down the same ole trail that leads to where so called archery is today.
