Shelf Rug for Tree Stick
«
on:

I am struggling with with wear on the factory shelf rug. What do you guys use with your Tree Stick. I am out of seal skin, which is what I have used for the last 10 plus years on my recurves.
Any ideas?
Thanks;

i use and like beaver tail....buy a tail wrap from abe penner at caribows....you'll have enough to last along time or use on many bows....its very durable.

Thanks, I am weighing options and I appreciate the input. I don't have the wear when I shoot split finger, but when I shoot 3 under, I develop the wear mark no matter where I place the nock, high or not. I get great arrow flight so it is frustrating.

Velcro lasts a very long time. If you want to go natural I have been using a piece of beaver hide trimmed down to the felt with nice results.

I second the beaver tail or velcro. Both last a very long time.

I bought $3 worth of velcro, yesterday. That's enough to last me......FOREVER.....lol.
Just a thought (take this with a grain of salt)...
I used to experience a lot of rest wear. I used to shoot cock feather out / RW fletch. If that's how you're shooting, try LW fletch. I now have no issues (but this isn't the only reason I switched).
Good luck.

I am looking at a piece (both sides) of 2 1/2" wide velcro as we speak. I forgot I bought it to try.
Do you have better success with the hooks or the loops. Hooks are the hard side and loops are the rug. I have seen both used.

I don't use the velcros for my side plate. For the rest, I only use the rug side.

the hook side will last a long time, but the arrow makes to much noise sliding over it for hunting purposes

velcro works great, just wish i could find just the fuzzy side instead of having to buy the looped side also.

Billy, use velcro - the loop side. It's not as durable as leather, but it can be found most anywhere and is inexpensive. I get the industrial grade at Lowe's.
