Doe Hunting/Freezer Filling Next Fall
« on: February 13, 2010, 02:32:00 PM »
Next fall my son and I would like to go somewhere where we could shoot 2 or 3 deer each. We're in it for the meat (not antler). Wouldn't mind paying an "outfitter" but don't want to pay the ridiculously high prices they charge for "trophy hunts" either. Looking for a high concentration of deer (doe). Would like to be within a 12 hour drive of Indiana. Any suggestions?

Good luck, I'd actually try some states close to you that have regs allowing multiple antlerless hunts and then talking to trophy type outfits.

Many have the need to take does, but guys on a high dollar buck hunt can be leery of taking a doe when that same doe may have a buck following it.

It bet a good rate could be had, with some nice accomodatiins if you go early season before the rut hits.

Good luck, but TG may have some landowners looking for a good feller to help limit his deer population too.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Here in the south, Georgia, Alabama, or South Carolina allow us to kill as many deer as you could possibly need.  Ray Hammond (a sponsor here) offers a doe/hog hunt in South Carolina for a very reasonable cost.

Randy,

That's what I'm talking about!  Ray is on my short list.  Thanks.

Goto the Hoosier Nation Forest south of Monroe north of Heltonville. You will need to get in deep but there is more deer than you want.
